I've yet only seen Positive comments from the people playing it, so I guess it's really good.

I'd like to play it, but don't know if I have the time nor if I want to spend the money..

I dont like playing mmo's where you must pay each month and such.. then it feels like if you dont play then its a waste of money.. If I remember it correctly they called SWTOR the last "pay mmo" since all the others have recently gone over to the little cheaper version of buy small stuff and play more or dont pay anything and get stuck ^^

So .. Im waiting for guild wars 2 Very Happy

That and a distate for grind are also the reasons I don't play normally MMOs.

Interesting about SWTOR being 'the last pay MMO', just found an article about it, about time they changed the business model to something less despicable. But let's see what comes, I would hate seeing paying customers having much better characters, gear or some such than everyone else, but that is probably the way they'll go about it.

There's near to no grind in the current version of cRPG, takes about a week to become lvl 31 and from the 20s you are on par with most other players. Don't retire for looms ( just buy them ) and what you have on your hands is a constantly community updated version of Native ( like Beta if the best betatesters had access to core game files ), with a seriously great weapon and class balance, lots of new weapons, weapon modes and craftable items, a big ( as in when the multiplayer forums on TW has 15 people looking at it cRPG's has many hundreds ), interesting and active community ( many of whom are old friends from Native ), character gear and build customization and an online campaign.

Don't fall into the same trap as I did when I used to have an opinion on cRPG with very little experience with the mod, I can only say after over 2 years in Native that I regret I didn't play cRPG actively at least from January last year when the mod saw some serious overhauls.

By what I've seen in a twitch.tv online stream, TOR is basically WoW on a modern/star wars setting. Many "skills" to tap, kiting with ranged weapons, melee classes with ways of charging to avoid kiting, lol... Looks rather pathetic, as in very unoriginal, for a recent MMO.

Just hella hyped, of course.

Re: SWTOR

I have no illusions about the game, to me it may be enough that it's a new SW role-playing game, with a strong singleplayer storyline following up more or less where KOTOR 2 ended that I can play for *some* time with some friends, doing quests, raiding bosses, finding gear, exploring worlds and fighting with my lightsaber. If I want solid action I play WB and if I want a solid RPG I play Fallout 2 or FNV.

But then again, though I'm a major expanded universe SW fan I've never played MMOs and they've never really interested me, but perhaps if one lowers ones expectations and embraces the game for what it is it might be some fun can be squished out of it.

Well yeah buddy, with that said, for me 80% of the fun in playing a MMO is in playing with people I know. Even the shittier ones can be fun if you have people you know to screw around with. So if it is free and you guys would like to try it, why not!

Exactly, I recently had fun out of Diablo 2, believe it or not, at a LAN party; a game I'd otherwise always scorned for being mindless grind only having played the SP campaign through once back when it first came out. But it was decent fun building characters ( I played fishymancer Smile ) and doing quests with some friends.

Yeah, Diablo 2 is awesome if you play with friends. It was actually even classed as an MMO for some time... (I don't know why really.. Razz)

Lotro is a very nice choice of F2P MMO. You get the amazing story and a mmo you will only have to pay little for if you want to get longer than lvl 30.

Well have I got a story for you!

Spoiler:
Lotro is ugly eye-candy shit with "kids can play it too" graphics and world maturity.

If you can't kill your friends, loot them and hear them squeal, it's not a good multiplayer game.
And that's pretty bad when it's supposed to be an MMO.

And it's ugly.

As shit.

Ah yes, an excellent point. Now that is something I'll gladly spend my money on, if TOR isn't a limited f2p then I'm not even going to bother trying it. :/

Because he's rich and evil like all scandinavians, Jur. They can afford the best computers made by men and all the games, while we can't, so free games are inferior! Sad

It's not my problem that you are poor I can afford AAA games, but most of the time they just aren't worth the money. I don't see that FTP games are great. It's same like with PTP games, some are good and some are bad.
I find that there is most quality in indie games.
