We do that ring dance every year at school around "Føstulávint", where you celebrate that spring has come by smashing a barrel with a club. (In the old days there was a living black cat in the barrel...).
And of course also on most major holidays, especially Ólavsøka.

Yes, I've seen that video before, think Blead posted it in the Einherjar thread once. Funny how it's 'creepy' when asian kids do something exceptional awakening thoughts of child abuse in us all, but if its Westerners it's just prodigies.

If you like me thoroughly enjoy Tolkien's books you may approve of this music, as befits something as monumental (to my best knowledge) the highest quality music made for any fantasy work. This is for the books what Howard Shore's music was for the movies.

From Wikipedia:
The Tolkien Ensemble (founded in 1995) is a Danish ensemble which aims to create "the world's first complete musical interpretation of the poems and songs from The Lord of the Rings". They published four CDs from 1997 to 2005, in which all the poems and songs of The Lord of the Rings are set to music. The project was approved by both the Tolkien family and HarperCollins Publishers. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark gave permission to use her illustrations in the CD layout.
Permanent members are Caspar Reiff and Peter Hall (composition, singing and guitar), Signe Asmussen (singing), Öyvind Ougaard (accordion), Katja Nielsen (double-bass), and Morten Ryelund Sørensen (conductor and violin).
The Ensemble has toured Europe in 2007, combining their own works with soundtrack pieces from Howard Shore's soundtrack to the film trilogy as well as live narration by Christopher Lee.

The style is Scandinavian folk music combined with some classic and opera elements (including many performances in Qenya and Sindarin), and the mood and composition changes parallel with the books. Here's some samples (you can find most of it on Youtube):

Gandalf's Song of Lorien

The Road Goes Ever On

Galadriel's Song of Eldamar, I Sang of Leaves

The Old Walking Song

Lament for Boromir

Song Of Nimrodel

Christopher Lee sings Treebeard´s Song

Song of Beren and Luthien

Galadriels song of Eldamar, Ai! Laurië Lantar

Two of Queen Margrethe's illustrations, made by a young Tolkien reading queen in 1977:

Godnoken: lol gay.

Krax, I would never let a petty minority clean my house up - imagine if they'd pray to Allah while they were on the job!
All the runes and symbols on my walls would probably set the cleaner alight but that's besides the point - because the house would burn down too, and that's a problem right there.

Glad you liked it. I agree it's really amazing Smile

Tolkien is one author I would argue against reading in any language but English, especially as you are so fluent in the language as you are. I've never read so beautiful English since Shakespeare, no translation can do it honor. I read them in Danish first myself, though, but I was very young and my English weren't really up to the task back then.

Consider also reading the Silmarillion first (in English), it's the best of the series and is kind of a prologue to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings where you get to know the lore of the universe throughout the ages and some of the most interesting legends and tales, many of which deals with characters or forefathers to characters you meet in LotR.

I cannot compare the Icelandic version to the English but as far as I've read I've seen a very nice choice of words and usage of the language.
