Vikingr-mod

Post  Erilaz on Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:59 pm

Greetings fallen warriors!
I am really missing a Scandinavian (actually any) clan playing the great Vikingr-mod.
How come you've abandoned it, and will you appear for the Shieldwall-event on the 5th?

Cheers!

Hey Erilaz

I don't know how many of us still play Vikingr. I sometimes see Harkon and Tyr and I am playing myself. It is a shame that it's so few, but you can't force them, can you? Wink

I will lead a host in the shieldwall event (although I can't make it if it's the 5th of Nov).

Hejsa, friend!

I do still play Vikingr, I'm just not sure of how it's going to be now. The Fyrningas will likely take the server down eh?

I've been hooked into Vikingr since its inception, and I love to play as the Vikings. You seem like an epic warrior yourself! I'm pretty sure you use the same sort of character portrait that Angantyr does. ^^

Nope, it's from the same game (Medieval:Total War - Viking Invasion), but it's a different portrait. Wink

Doesn't matter if Fyrninga server will be down, there is a 150 man server up and running anyways..

*Edit* Nvm, there was a server with those numbers just some weeks ago.

Maybe some of you are interested in starting a battle-group for the Vikingr-mod?
I've been brewing a concept for a few days, here's a bit of text and a possible banner:

Erlingar

We, the descendants of Jarl, are sons of the warrior-society of the north.
A brotherhood, tied - if not by blood - by oaths to the Ætt.
We are all free men, with no king; answering only to the decisions of the Þing.
Only in wartime does the Þing, consisting of all Erlingar, elect a Höfðing to lead in battle.
The Þing of the Erlingar is summoned and led by the Lögsögumaðr, acting as an administrator.
The Lögsögumaðr is a permanent responsibility, held until retirement or dismissal by vote.
Membership can only be taken into consideration by recommendation from an Erlingr.
To become an Erlingr one must be unanimously accepted by vote on the Þing.

Óðalsmerki
(Banner of heritage)

One would consequently be named e.g. Thorkell_Erlingr

Does this interest you?
I am of course open to any suggestions.

Aye, I'm up for this, good initiative Erilaz. Hopefully at least Hengist and Angantyr will follow suit. Smile

Well, dynasty is not the best translation - I was a bit concerned about using the word, Ætt, but in general it means something you belong to; a nationality, kin, or a kind of tribal entity.

"I also liked the part with "answering only to the decisions of the ping Very Happy"
geek

EDIT: Argh, It IS a bit stupid - I'll remove the part about the Ætt, If I am to post it on the Vikingr-forum.

Hey Erilaz/Thorkell,

I sent you a PM on the TW forum. I am interested in joining the group as far as this is compatible with the Einherjar clan policy. (Angantyr, Corey: would it be ok for you if some of us would be part of this interest group?)

I am not the most active player, but pretty good company, I guess. cyclops

I don't really care if we form a clan or not, it's mostly for us to fight together under the same host in events and such.

Re: Vikingr-mod

I really hope for this to be possible, seeing as the main idea was to create a "battle-group" or "interest group" for Vikingr-events; NOT a clan. In reality, I would have already joined the Einherjar, but for the fact that I can't be bothered to play Native.

Also, I hope the good Angantyr will join us! - in general, it would be best if we were to be at least five guys for the events.

This being a somewhat independent group would allow Vikingr players not part of the Einherjar-clan to join. And as we intend not to train (at least regularly) we will not "recruit" anybody - only taking on skilled/semi-skilled, reliable, and mature players (although our host for the event could be open to the public.)

EDIT: Well, I'm not very competitive. So we don't need to be "on the top of the scoreboard" - I, personally, feel that the fact that you know somebody to be a good guy is more important than mere skill.
