ofcourse it counts I train this 6 hours a week (3 times 2hours each time) and it's based on fencing from manuals that medival fencing masters made, so this is more correct (or what you should call it) than the sport fencing that we see in the olympics

well cool if you like that, but how do you refrain yourself without kicking your opponent on the ground and bash his face with a shield? also I presume no throwing allowed Very Happy

what you just said is allowed the things that aren't allowed in matches are locked throwing and grabs around the neck because of the high risk of getting hurt for life

Just started competitive fencing this week, might start the same stuff Whurval's doing at some point. Other stuff includes judo, karate, wing chung and basically anything that gives me an excuse to hit somebody without having to answer for it. Razz

Re: Sports

Post  Krax on Wed Sep 21, 2011 10:44 pm

i did alot of sports but not anymore haha !

I played football, handball(was on the youth national team), American Football..

They said i had a briliant future as a handball player but i wanted to drink and party, so that ended that path. hehe never regreted it a moment.

(wasnt really that wierd that they wanted me there since i was 2m tall, 90kg and benchpressed 125 kg at age 16-17) and i was stuffed full of testosteron since they where stopping my growth. (they had mesured it to around 215-225 cm)
So i was able to train as mutch as i wanted for a year.... i never got tired... hehe

I think i trained like 2 times per day all week + 5 days with training at school.

Only sport i sucked in was longdistance runing... for some reason iv never been able to get stamina in runing.... i mean i ran 2 times per week 10 km but i never improved the time hehe. kinda strange imo since stamina is supposed to be very easy to train.

oh hehe some of the most fun i had was when i played american football and during the offseason we played basket hehe just not with normal basket rules.... was more FFA rules.... i remember in the start one of em where gona "put me in place" hehe he ran full speed and where gona tackle me from the side.... i saw this in the corner of my eye, slowed and just as he lowered to ram me i went deeper down, and as he came over me i pushed full up.... hehe he ended up turned upside down into the wall and just slid down blacked out.... Still remember the roaring laughter when he came back......

I have done some stuff... Handball, Football and Judo, But as of now i train athletics/track and field, 5-6 times a week, around 10-12 hours a week. I barely have time for any other sports because of school, but might just start on some Muai Thai, this winter, if time allows me cyclops

When I was a kid I've done football, icehockey and karate, but also got bored of it all. Now I only work out regularly ( sometimes semi-regularly ) at home but am hoping to start at the local Wing-Tsun center in the near future and see if it's something for me ( as my brother has always claimed ).

I also was in karate some time ago, got bored after a year though, it wasn't so effective in a real fight. I got a 3rd place in the championships though.
Mostly just some home training and occasional Basketball .

Out of the many Eastern martial arts I've tried, wing-tsun has definitely been the most practical and fun (cause there's not as much of that fucking mumbo-jumbo shit as, for instance, in karate. I hate Japanese traditions). Go for it, dude.

Well.... imo the mumbo-jumbo is one of the more important thing.... i mean you dont give a kid a loaded gun and just learn him to shoot everything that moves...

Learning a deadly art is also about the ability to controll yourself while under pressure, else you can easyly end up taking a life in the heat of a lets say barfight. Im happy i never learnt any of those in my youth else id prolly been typing this from prison.

Also most fights you get into are when your drunk so if id wanted to learn a fighting style id like on that your needed to be drunk to train.

hehe saw it many times Mr.Blackbelt dead drunk was gona smack me around only to hit the wall or falling on his ass hehe

I did Ju-Jutsu and Capoeira, both for a short time only, though.

I really would like to get back into Capoeira, because it's really fun and a great overall workout.

At the moment I work out semi-regularly.

I once saw a documentary or something about capoeria, It was invented by portugese slaves and since the portugese(looks at harkon) forbid all kind of martial art for their "slaves", they started to "dance" while its infact is a bit like martial art.

Thats what I know about it ^^
