if your in to fantasy books like i am, you should definitely read: The Death Gate Cycle (7 books) and the Eragon series (currently 3 books)

i would also recommend the books: Grimpow and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dwarves_(book) (<-- these books got around 600+ pages)

@Arrow,
I read 'The Death Gate Cycle' when I was about 14, so it's a long time ago, but I remember it as the best Fantasy I've read next efter Tolkien and a Song of Ice and Fire ( which I'm currently reading ).

Seems like there is a third book too, but it seems like the thing that the so called... second(third) book is about was happening at the same time as the third book(my second book), hm.. I dunno...

Have anyone read the Dune series, I hear they are quite excellent ?

If you're a nåb who've never heard about Frank Herbert's Dune universe check out this awesome illustrated prologue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_0uz7e9A6E

( narrated by Caesar from Fallout New Vegas )

I bought the Dune series for myself more than a decade ago - being inspired by playing the strategy game back in the day. In case you want to start on them - they are quite the heavy read, becoming quite melodramatic and scifi-philosophical in the end - try the 3 prequels written by his son. Maybe there is even more by now?

House Atreides, House Harkonnen and so on the prequels are called. They are quite the lighter read and lay the groundwork to the important characters and houses which dominate the father's work.

Read them when I was 13 or 14. I remember it was pretty good, though I was a newbie with books back then. My father read them too, at the time, so I guess it's good for an older mind as well.

Inspired by the game as well.

I read this excellent fairy tale about a demi god with super powers, who ended up sacrificing himself for others. Kinda of a "The Matrix" ripoff, but still pretty descent. The Bible Very Happy

You should check the prequel, plenty of violence and dirty sex. I especially like the part where that one guy sticks a sword so deep into a fat king's belly, that it gets stuck in the lard all the way to the hilt.

Anyone read Metro 2033?

I've heard good things about the game and really like post-apocalyptic settings, so I'm considering giving this a try after Dune. It has gotten good reviews, too.
