@gule - againtur

dont they check the creditcard too now ?

Anyway many places are cracking down on faking your country now from what iv heard.

Id rather pirate it than play around with that semi pirat shit....

I really hope they learned after that dvd region lock shit they rolled out many years ago.... but greed is greed and maybe we will see a region lock DRM soon...

Why didnt they announce the demo officially?

The game is not even announced on steam yet - I guess the 7 day delay is owed to the issues with steam as well. How can you release a game on steam with zero advertisement/announcement?

I didnt buy anything yet since they still haven't all their deals released (the game is not even on steam yet!) and there havent been too many replies from you guys.

Gamersgate is a high certainty though.

and i was told both steam and non-steam would work together this time. very disappointing. anyways, bought a copy from gamersgate.com . rather support paradox directly then steam as well.

I did not get a clear answer from Paradox on this. I like to do this by considering facts and previous and repeated experience. They might not know themselves. Up to now Steam has always been a super hassle with Paradox. So even now...

...Steam does not have the game yet. So its a fuckup already Razz

Modding and Multuplayer have been the greatest weakness of Steam-Paradox versions, those two are the most fun though.

Paradox is selling the boxed (steam) version, some people like me do not want that. Gamersgate has the only non-steam version out there. Nobody will be forced to buy any particular version. It is a mere suggestion to be able to play together more easily. It has been quite the hassle for me personally to make sure everyone has the same version...

Good to see fresh faces in this thread, I hope you guys can play with us and see what this...

MEGALOMANIA

...is about. Prepare.

yes, modding and multiplayer are the most fun part within paradox universe and especially HoI, EU and Crusader Kings. we just started recently eu iii campaigns in ig and it is a huge pain in the *** with steam especially when someone times out or crashes. gamersgate and hamachi are the way to go imo.
although people love steam and it will end up playing over steam which cuts out the modding adventures as you said. waiting for the next summer sale then. ^^ and maybe we can get some people over to you and have some fun. would be great.

You guys playing EU III ?

Might get some interested players from this group here. We used to play EU III with Magna Mundi which is a powerful combination. Once you tried Magna Mundi you'll never go back to vanilla. It feels too simple and bland afterwards. Paradox got alot of their expansion material from the Magna Mundi team (HRE Mechanics, Sengoku Jidai)

We will probably be playing Crusader Kings II and Magna Mundi (the game) - it will be most definetly a good idea to get together for some serious multiplayer.

Steam getting in the way of multiplayer and modding renders any offered comfort useless in my eyes since you do have to employ some less comfortable workarounds to get it working properly. So in the end, you gain nothing going the steam route unless they finally fix this. Chances are low though since the autopatching, cross-platform multiplayer barriers and modding disfunctionality are core principles to be able to offer the kind of simplicity of use that is craved by the modern gamer with a short attention span.

EDIT:

Oh. On the original release day, one week ahead of the new one they manage to get CK2 on steam...go figure.

Didnt want to tell you guys about my first and only game with the demo, not to make those have-it-all-kids buy even more stuff.

Started as the Duchy of Bohemia which is a rediculously easy starting position. Had my youngest Brother murder two of my older brothers who were in line to the throne before him. I let him be, even when he tried to plot my removal. He died still a count.

I didnt abuse the mercenary mechanics and waited for opportune moments to strike at the baltic heathens when they were weak or isolated. Captured like 6 duchies this way and with the resulting piety crowned myself King.

The Seniority Crown law made it very interesting to see who was to be my heir. It changed every few years which each assasination and natural death. I got to play my nephew afterwards.

Claiming land never worked for me. Finding marriages was kinda hard, except for the emperer who whored out all his kids to my offspring.

Had a blast.

EDIT: If Titan will be Norway, I will play Guillaume le Bâtard. Roleplaying properly I will only write french in the chat.

I claimed Lombardia and some other northern Italian provinces as Matilda.

But Norway is also in a very good starting position.

ROFL, you troll. Laughing

This is certainly a lot different than EU III. It feels like a much harder game since you always need to be conscient of your men of the court and vassals, and what you truly possess is very relative, unlike EU III. Really exciting stuff!

Indeed!

I find the "Duchy of the Isles" quite interesting, as well as the independent Isle of Man (although it seems the leader is old and his sons are vassals of the Crovans). In a MP game I'd definitely play as some small duchy or the like - never tried multiplayer in this kind of game, I'm quite exited about the prospect!
