Thats not a blindspot, those are four blind flanks hehe.

Well done though, I see you steer with mouse and keyboard allowing you to fire where you are not flying. I guess the bigger the ships the more needed that is. I will have a try with a combination next, using the stick exclusively for maneuvering before.

hehe if you look closely you see that im down to 4% hull for a long time so it was real close....

i use the "classic" when fighting... (you hit space) you need to strafe to dodge enemy lasers better.

Yeah, I can neither strafe or roll with that joystick. Accuracy is worse too. Turning ist easier with the stick though, will have to do quite some adjustments to the controls. I saw that you were at 4% hull - damned scary!

I have the first million now, getting fat on wheat & meat trading! Otherwise I grab all trading opportunities and control 2 haulers manually in sectors far away / following in my wake.

My M3 has no turret. So I use two M4 as wingmen and so far there has been only one fatal crash causing me to reload, they are permanently in protection mode. M5's as wingmen are laughable though, the die so fast and "guard" my haulers now. I snatched another hauler within a mission and saw he was an ore miner, there is no ore laser on board though and the ship does not really mine when I tell its AI to. Might be a component missing...

I am playing the terran plot on the go which helps me to explore space. I stick mainly to the Argon space around Omicron Lyrae / Heretics End / Black Sun...

My plan is to continue as I go, my income stemming from capturing ships, loot, missions, manual remote trading and sometimes I fly the hauler myself.


Strangely the AI traders - although I have quite some high rank due trading - dont want to barter with me. Might it be that some "shoot haulers" missions did something to alienate them all?

btw solar power plants are a very safe bet when you move into the building phase... think the smallest ones only cost around 1mil....

BUT there is a trick to buying em that i didnt really figur out before alot of time had passed.... hehe i dont really read manuals :p

to transport em you need to hire one of those huge transport ships thats in the sector with the shipyard... com - talk to cap - hire.... then order him to dock at the shipyard.... then move him into that sector you want to build.... he just need to be in that sector not where you want to place it... just order him to drop it.

I have around 5 Haulers as we used to call them in eve, which are on manual remote control - not the most efficiant way to trade, but it beats having some AI do it. So I play quite slowly now rarely engaging SETA (time acceleration for the rest of you) with all the ships to take care of.

The game feels a bit like warband, where you can carve your own existance out of the meat of the unfortunate.

I will never turn back from mouse aiming now. Combat is almost trivial with the ability to permamently keep hitting your target with the crosshairs adjusting to every move / gun. I am thinking of turning it off since I shot down an Xenon M6 which had a huge blind spot at the rear. It was a bit preoccupied with an AI M4 though...

Somehow strafing doesnt work, I thought that was a preinstalled mod, maybe its not in my version of TC, for now, rolling has to do.

found a perfect script to install Smile

Auto aim

I only use it for one thing......

Repairs..... when you space walk just face the ship you want to repair and hit the key for "auto aim : Target"

it will be under Control - interface and the bottom of those options...

it will then repair the ship and you can tab out while it does it hehe (i play in windowed mode since i have two monitors so i can surf on the other. also need to enable the option to let the game play in the background)

...but this baby. Had to do quite some reading to get everything as I wanted it. It is a wheat farm in space! Attached to it are a factory which makes cloth! from said wheat and a docking hub to the right.

This factory produces a low-mid level good and needs only energy to operate. The complex is build in the Wildlands sector, in System there are 2 factories and a station using the produce, one jump away there are 3 more factories and 3 more stations using it. Its the biggest market I could find in my precarious err precious place in space. Next door - 1 jump away are 2 solar plants supplying the thing with cheap ass energy.

Building this as my first complex took me 3 tries and at least 2 hours of gameplay. You need to plan ahead and get everything in place.

On the way I let the station builder drop another wheat farm in treasure chest to supply the 3 backeries there and the 3 in the black hole sun sector.

My choices where absolutely limited by cash - 3.6 mil - and the Argon shipyard in Omicron Lyrene which sells only a few factories.

I hope I wrote this clear enough for people beyond the Krax.

Hmm thanks, I dont have factories trading with each other other than through the tubes of the plex though. What I rather need is those brainless ships to do buying and selling for me. I will get around this!

What I want the AI hauler attached to a station to do is manually buy ressources at the cheapest price only , keep the stocks full. And sell at variyng highest prices within 2 jumps. I will figure it out!

After having achieved this I will set out to continue the storyline and capture more haulers and combat ships. My fleet gets decimated here and there since I operate them mostly from afar.

Regarding my complex, this is just a start. Soon I want to look at the asteroids in the sector, two are close enough to incoorperate them easily to the complex.

There is demand for energy and a lot of intermediary products around, but I mostly lack the cash and the two shipyards stock for most of those. I need to do more exploring!

That second mod you posted sounds quite awesome - it is for a second game though since it is not save compatible.

how to setup a station supplyer/trader

1. select the trader you want to use (i allways have Trade MK1,2 and bestbuy/sell installed on em)


2.
select homebase






3.
select trade



4.

select buy for best price (or sell if you want it to sell the products you have)



5.

Select the ware you want to buy (it will filter what your station needs automatic)



6.

You can check your property to see what its doing... and your done Smile

the universal best buy/sell is a awsome mod (you can install it without breaking your save game)

Its a very nice way to find where shit is sold... and you can order ships to goto that station form the screen Smile

Thanks for the hint with the universal finder! That is EXACTLY what I need. I hate clicking on every station in one sector just to find the one I am looking for!

You dont have to do these enourmeous tutorials Krax! I got far enough to make them buy, but selling wasnt possible, maybe it has been my pricing. I once caught my buying freighter trying to buy at the 17credits solar plant instead of the 12credit one. The crew did not take the airlock gracefully.

My Rhimes Factory is completely bought out all the time by my manual trading. I wish I could've started with an L version as the demand is high enough, I am always selling at maximum price and have as much money now as before I started out building 3 factories and the complex module.

I captured my second M3 today - I wish they wouldt die that often by missle-blast-in-your-face. I still dont own/use a jumpdrive since the local temple has to be rebuild first hehe.

There is so much to do!

One thing im trying to figur out is the boarding with marines..... the whole boarding prosess is abit meh for me it seems hehe

they sure cost alot to train tho lol iv prolly sinked like 40 mil into those piglets... (got 15-20 marines in training) but if i want those really M6+ ships it goto be done hehe. got my eyes set on a prototype heavy centaur Smile hope my argon friends dont get tooo upset with me...

btw i found another Total con. mod im gona try out.... looks nice.... called XRM

im kinda testing out alot of scripts and mods now to settle on a package that i want...

nope pure singelplayer.... there are one mod tho that tryed i think....but it was only chat i think.... there isnt any network code in the game.

Its a very steep learning curve in the start, but if you love space sims this is prolly the best since elite...


its a sandbox game... there are several main "quests" you can follow... (in TC not albion prelude)

You dont need to follow anyone of those tho... you can just stake your claim and do what ever...

fight
trade
explore

you can build just about any stucture ingame... even get a personal shipyard... (very very hard to get tho since it needs a gazillion res)

I think there are like 200 mods to the game... several TC's and alot of Artificial life modes that adds quests etc... like the pirate guild...

you can fly anything from a puny fighter to a bulk trader to a HUGE battleship or carrier... it has atleast 8 races i think all with their own ship designs... prolly over 120 diffrent ships... but there are mods that push that to over 300 i think. prolly 20-30 missiles and around the same with lasers.

you can train marines that will board other ships...

prolly more but i want to geto bed lol.

hehe found the vanilla ship list its kinda big X3 shiplist

Meh. This little trade empire is quite the piece of work. I should've sticked with one single complex and maybe do some more preparation as to where to plant it. Guess I didnt explore quite enough space.

I currently expand the baby I have to 3x Wheat Farm M and 3x Rhimes Fac M, importing cheap energy. The demand does hopefully suffice, without having to sell too far. Atm I sell everything at max. profit. My pocket money does not allow for anything more fancy.

I get distracted all the time to do more exploring and get jumpdrives and Mk3 traders all the time. So I have to do it on my own...

Will post another pic when the complex is expanded, I have something on my mind.

this is my current game.... i might remove the free jump tho since it was too powerfull... it cost credits but it allows you to jump anywhere inside the sector.
then again iv not used it yet since jumpdrives costs 2+ mil in this TC.... hehe docking computer costs 800k so it forces you to make some moolah before you get the good stuff.



i have XRM installed too but i did that manualy since i had problems the first time and they said it was best to do it manualy.



also i was happy with the speed when i redownloaded the game..

It does not overwrite. It works with any game out there. Even the kids got it to work.


Forgot to take a screenshop of my expanded plex. The hauler didnt have space for the last complex kit, so I have to get back there an resume building soon. Luckily for me its only 1000 creds/jump for the hauler.

I finally got around to place satellites. Man these things make my live alot easier! There is some problem with the http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=223503 which does not show in the interface.


Overall greatest gripe with the game is the interface. Too many steps required to get from A to B. the pulldown menues are void of the really important stuff, remote trading between a hauler and your station is very cumbersome, why isnt there an "unload" command...

I wonder why I can't strafe. I know that there is supposed to be a preinstalled strading module, but I neither see it nor can I use it!

I got lucky though, convoy escort mission, I captured a pirate peregrin.


Btw. The boarding guide on Apricots guide collection is on page 218.
